The People's MOU: National Day of Action

MP Terry Duguid's Office - 2855 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg, MB, Canada
The climate crisis is wreaking havoc in Manitoba once again, with extreme weather causing flooding, tornados, and widespread destruction.  But instead of acting on the crisis by accelerating away from fossil fuels, our governments are putting the interests of oil and gas corporations above the interests of the people. Join us on this national day of action, along with hundreds across the country, to deliver the People’s MOU to MP offices. RSVP here to join us and help spread the word! The federal government is gutting climate policies, enabling megaprojects to bypass key environmental regulations, and subsidizing the same Big Oil billionaires who are reaping record profits at our expense. Prime Minister Carney and Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew have joined forces to try to court a pipeline and LNG export terminal in Hudson Bay. Meanwhile, Canada has signed an MOU with Alberta, paving the way for another toxic tar sands pipeline to the west coast. The fossil fuel lobby is lying to us by claiming that more oil and gas extraction somehow serves our national interest. But their destructive agenda threatens the health of our communities, the survival of our wildlife, and the future of our planet – all while costing us billions of dollars and tying our economy to a volatile and exploitative industry. Enough fast-tracking destruction. Ahead of the July 1st deadline for Alberta’s pipeline proposal, we are calling on Members of Parliament to sign a new memorandum of understanding: an MOU with the people.
